SanwoOlu reiterates commitment to Gender Equality as UN Delegates visit DSVA VRRS. 

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has received a delegation of the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional program, comprising partners from Ghana,  South Africa, Mali, Ethiopia, Kenya and others.  The Executive Secretary DSVA,  Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said the visit was an opportunity to share experiences of the various Spotlight initiatives as well as State Government driven innovation, demonstrating our commitment towards reducing this menace to the barest minimum  At the experience sharing session, the Executive Secretary emphasized the State Government’s political will which is further institutionalized  by the incorporation of the THEMES PLUS particularly Gender equality and Social inclusion.  According to Vivour- Adeniyi, one of the ways of achieving gender equality is by reducing the SGBV menace to the barest minimum.  It was also an opportunity to speak about the various innovations including the GBV VRRS, mainstreaming of SGBV response in to the public health sector as well as The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has received a delegation of the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional program, comprising partners from south Africa, Mali, Ethiopia, Kenya etc It was an opportunity to share experiences of the various Spotlight initiatives as well as State Government driven initiatives , demonstrating our commitment towards reducing this menace to the barest minimum  At the experience sharing session, the Executive Secretary emphasized the State Government’s political will which is further institutionalized  by the incorporation of THEMES plus- particularly Gender equality and Social inclusion.  According to her, one ways of stating gender equality is by reducing the SGBV menace to the barest minimum.  It was also an opportunity to speak about the various innovations including the GBV VRRS, mainstreaming of SGBV response into the public health sector as well as into the State’s Emergency response apparatus coordinated the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.  She stressed that the support from the Spotlight Iniative aided the establishment of the GBV RRS,  Supported the formulation of the Unified Response Protocol pathway (URPRP) and also supported with the development of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Case Management System (Mobile/web application) In her response,  Anu Vaughere Jahu, National Coordinator SI/UNRCO the leader of the United Nations delegation commended the state government and the DSVA for impactful strides in the fight against SGBV and assured that she would relay the needs highlighted amongst which were focusing on prevention,  access to Justice and  government driving the process and taking  ownership of these thematic issues.  AdeJoke Ladenegan-Oginni Lagos DSVA 23/8/2023.
