DSVA Engages Men From Various Local Governments

In a bid to stem the tide on growing concerns about the prevalence of Sexual and gender based violence in the State, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency DSVA has engaged men from various Local government and LOcal council development area by organizing a different version of her already existing “It’s On Us” program tagged “MEN WEY SABI”

The Executive Secretary DSVA Mrs Lola Vivour-Adeniyi said the indispensable role the Local Government/Local Council Development Area would further create awareness in the nooks and crannies of the State.

She said 10 men including Youth Council members, CDC, CDA, Religious leaders, NURTW members and other relevant member of the community were mobilized for the program.

She said the objectives of the program was to

Educate men on evolving gender roles; Promote positive masculinity among men; to enlighten men on non-violence approach to conflict; and the need to have respect for female gender.

She stressed SGBV often takes the form of male perpetration and  women victimization which must be eradicated from the society.

The program highlights had men from the LGs and LCDAs in the cooking competition.
