Lagos DSVA takes advocacy on SGBVS to Ibeju Lekki

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency have heightened it’s awareness campaign against all forms of abuse, Sexual and Gender Based Violence in the State as it embarks on an advocacy walk in  ibeju Lekki

The Executive Secretary, Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency DSVA Mrs TitiLola Vivour-Adeniyi said the Agency will not relent in creating awareness on Sexual and gender based violence as well as educating citizens in the State of  the need to report cases and perpetrators to the appropriate authorities as the onus is on all to rid the State of the menace.

Vivour-Adeniyi, who was represented by the Programs Officer Ann Onyechefua said the Agency has always created awareness for the different strata of society but with the rising number of cases, awareness needs to be heightened and at the same time use the medium to educate the populace of the various State Intervention available for them to access at no cost if they are abused or violated.

She said the Citizens/Lagosians need to be sensitized so as not to fall on the wrong side of the Law  while stressing that ignorance is not an excuse.

Comrade Togun Olusegun Olugbenga, the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer and Epe Local government Coordinator – Child protection Network CPN said Domestic violence could be avoided and curbed through continuous public enlightenment on National core values . He said it was a step in the right direction and there was need to protect the children.

Aderonke Oyelakin of the Child protection Network commended the DSVA for embarking on several advocacy program which aims at reducing to the barest minimum all forms of SGBVs in the State.
