.. calls for more collaborative efforts
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has continued to heighten awareness on the SGBV menace as it embarked on Advocacy at the Local Government Area( LGA) of Amuwo ODOFIN through its Community Engagement Department.
Executive Secretary DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi who called for more collaborative efforts in the bid to rid society of SGBV and it’s attendants, revealed that heightened awareness in the grassroots had been impactful as it had increased awareness of these burgeoning issues and at the same time reporting of the SGBV crimes and the perpetrators.
Vivour Adeniyi said there is heightened awareness about these issues even as we are gradually breaking the culture of silence
Whilst reiterating that the State Government has made adequate services for survivors including free medical, legal, psychosocial / Counselling, empowerment , emergency services and Access to Justice , Vivour Adeniyi reiterated the need for survivors to take advantage of the free services available at the Agency.
Mr. Adewusi Damilare, Head, Community Engagement department and Mr. Ikudayisi Oluwatobi, officers from the Agency addressed the participants and gave an overview of SGBV, it’s forms & preventive measures and harped on the toll free line 0-8000-333-333 as a channel for prompt reporting of SGBV cases incidented in their environs.
Giving the vote of thanks, Evangelist Ralph Egunjobi, the Chairman of Community Development Council lauded the Lagos State Government efforts in ensuring such enlightenment campaigns are brought to the community, stressing that the initiative was a welcome development as this will delimit the perpetration of such heinous crimes among the residents irrespective of their ages, positions or creed and also urged for more intervention in the area.
