Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has reiterated its efforts to curb Gender-Based Violence  through behavioral mindset programs, sensitizing and training of all relevant stakeholders to infuse the SGBV message whilst moving towards a complete reversal of the menace from the society. Executive Secretary, Mrs.  Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, stated this at the Agency’s awareness programme, tagged: “Man Wey Sabi” at Unity market, Agbado, said the purpose was to address Gender stereotypes in Lagos. She emphasized the collective responsibility to empower women, urging society, leaders, and residents to champion gender equality in their various domain. She said the program shines a light on men’s pivotal roles in ending Domestic and Sexual Violence in a pragmatic manner and promotes partnership in marriages. A lively cooking competition generously sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited showcased culinary skills of the participants. The primary objective is to spread our message in a spirited manner, challenging stereotypes regarding men’s involvement in childcare and the essence of marriage partnership. Prince Abiodun Kosoko the Baba-Oja of Unity market, Agbado appreciated the SanwoOlu administration for ensuring that the society is conducive for both genders to thrive. Lagos DSVA Receives Budgit’s “Active Citizens Award”

It was another day of honour for the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency,  DSVA when BudgIT a leading Civic-Tech organization awarded the Agency its Active Citizens Award on Saturday,  September 16, 2023, at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island.  BudgIT, a leading Civic-Tech organization that promotes accountability and transparency in governance through social innovation and advocacy in its 2023 edition of its Active Citizens Awards. Trailblazers of Change;  Pioneering solutions,  shaping the future gave the awards to the Agency at   the Awards ceremony which aims to spotlight, honor,  and celebrate Citizens,  Agencies, and organizations undertaking outstanding work to improve Nigeria across different sectors.  BudgIT stressed that the Lagos DSVA got the award for its commitment to Social Justice and advancing service delivery for persons of Domestic Violence in Lagos State with the award for institutional transparency.  While receiving the award,  the elated Executive Secretary said in her acceptance speech,  “Permit me to commend BudgIT for their consistency, doggedness, and resilience exhibited through the years. TurnAlausaPurple Campaign Awareness

The State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) today continued its #TurnAlausaPurple campaign awareness to the Ministry of Justice as part of the agency’s activities to commemorate the month long awareness campaign themed “IT’S ON US”. The Attorney General and Chairman Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) commended the Executive Secretary, DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi and her team for putting together the campaign all over the nooks and crannies of the State. Mr Onigbanjo stressed that the team “IT’S ON US” is apt based on the compelling need to ensure that residents of the State realize that eradicating the menace of Sexual and Gender based Violence is a collective effort from all and sundry and basically a collaboration of all members of the society .

Lagos State Commences Publication of Details of Sex Offenders

In furtherance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s zero tolerance to all forms of domestic and sexual violence, the State government has begun the publication of details of sex offenders in the state.  This was disclosed to newsmen by the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs Titilola Vivour Adeniyi during a press conference at the agency’s office. The details according to the Executive Secretary includes; name and picture of the sex offender, the nature of the offence as well as the duration of the sentence handed down by the court.  Mrs Vivour Adeniyi noted that this was in line with the provisions of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law, particularly section 42 which provides that the Agency is to periodically publish details of Sex convicts in the state.  She also said letters of advisory have been issued to local governments and traditional rulers of the communities where the convicts previously resided.  This measure is one amongst many deployed by the state government to end the culture of impunity and also serve as a deterrence to other sex offenders. As further provided in the law, the details of sex convicts are to be published periodically on the State Government’s website, (www.lagosstate.gov.ng), the website of the Ministry of Justice ( https://lagosstatemoj.org) and the Agency’s website; ( www.dsvrtlagos.org)  The Executive Security reiterated that the stance of the State  government is resolute in preventing incidents of sexual and domestic abuse, whilst ensuring justice for all survivors.  She added that to report any case of domestic and sexual violence, Lagosians are to call the toll-free number, 08000333333.
