Lagos DSVA Receives Budgit’s “Active Citizens Award”

It was another day of honour for the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency,  DSVA when BudgIT a leading Civic-Tech organization awarded the Agency its Active Citizens Award on Saturday,  September 16, 2023, at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island.  BudgIT, a leading Civic-Tech organization that promotes accountability and transparency in governance through social innovation and advocacy in its 2023 edition of its Active Citizens Awards. Trailblazers of Change;  Pioneering solutions,  shaping the future gave the awards to the Agency at   the Awards ceremony which aims to spotlight, honor,  and celebrate Citizens,  Agencies, and organizations undertaking outstanding work to improve Nigeria across different sectors.  BudgIT stressed that the Lagos DSVA got the award for its commitment to Social Justice and advancing service delivery for persons of Domestic Violence in Lagos State with the award for institutional transparency.  While receiving the award,  the elated Executive Secretary said in her acceptance speech,  “Permit me to commend BudgIT for their consistency, doggedness, and resilience exhibited through the years. Thank you for putting all of us on our toes” “I would like to dedicate this award to all the victims and survivors who have trusted us enough with their stories, shared their pain, and sought help. Thank you for allowing us to help you. We use this medium to encourage anyone experiencing domestic and sexual violence to know that we believe you, Government is here for you.
